How serious are you about finding the path to peace? You will not find it the way you are going now. There is a way. You can find peace in your life, in your family, in your home, in your community, and in your soul. This Sunday: The Threefold Path of Peace. GROWTH GROUPS – SUMMER 2013 Sign up by email at (JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) Writing Group Facilitators: Lisa Cunningham & Claude Copeland, Sundays, 5-7pm. June 2 – July 7 We don't believe in the mysterious "Writer" with a capital W - we believe that expression and creation are simply the natural way of life. The hardest part is starting but once you arrive and jump in, there's a magic in the room you have to experience to understand - a quick check-in, a 10 minute free-write two writing exercises, and chances to share your work if you want. Join us! Biblical Woman: Spirituality and Sisterhood Facilitators: Becky Asedillo and Melissa Hinnen Tuesdays, 7:30pm. June 4 – July 9 An exploration of the lives of certain women in the Bible, connecting contemporary women's issues with theirs, celebrating the radical ways in which Jesus related to women and the transformative power of the Spirit in women's lives today. This group is a time for women to learn and grow together. Voices of Liberation and Justice Facilitators: Malcolm Frazier, Mustafa Sullivan, and Alexis Francisco, Wednesdays, 7:30pm. beginning June 5 Words and actions of injustice have inflicted pain upon the LGBTQ community. These have originated from both secular and religious institutions. The focus of this growth group is to lift up those counter voices and actions that challenge, neutralize and provide new understandings. The sources will be varied, ranging from biblical texts to contemporary writings. Healthy Intimate Relationships Facilitator: Doug Cunningham Thursdays, 7:30pm. June 13 – July 18 This group is for people who are single or in a partnership, married or unmarried, gay or straight; who are interested in finding and building a fulfilling intimate relationship with another person. We will explore basic biblical principles around trust, respect, a common journey, patience, listening and the meaning of sex; principles that form the foundation of a healthy intimate relationship. Growing in Faith 101 Facilitators: Argenys Taveras and Doug Cunningham Fridays, 7:30-9:00pm. May 31-June 21 This four-week course explores what it means to follow the Way of Jesus, grow in faith and be a vibrant church member. We discuss the unique principles of New Day, read from the gospel of Mark and pray. All questions welcome! Men's Bible Study: James Facilitators: Joel Pratt and Doug Cunningham Saturdays, 12 noon – 1:30pm., June 15 – July 20 This group is for men to discuss the scriptures and the issues that we face in relationships, the workplace, school, family and in the community. We will read James together, a letter known for straight talk. “Faith without works is dead,” he says. This will be an honest conversation about what faith means in our daily lives.
