The Healing Touch

"all who touched it were healed" -Mark 6:56

People respond overwhelmingly to the healing ministry of Jesus and the disciples.  The first disciples continued to heal, although not in the numbers that Jesus healed (see Acts 3:1-10)  What is your experience of the connection between faith and healing?

I find that as I am myself healed, I become a healing presence to others.

Recently, God has been at work in me, healing and giving new perspective on healing. The gift I am receiving could be summed up like this: “The gift is the knowledge that God has already given you the gift and power.”

This, for me, is the first part of a working definition of faith. The second is exercising the gift within, putting it into action for the greater glory of God, which is the blessedness and abundant life for all creation.

Faith is for me belief put into action.

True and powerful prayer engages faith, as we think and speak with God, guided by God’s Spirit, prayer powerfully calls us (me) to healing action.

One of my favorite hymn texts (written by Fred Kaan)

For the healing of the nations
Lord, we pray with one accord
For a just and equal sharing
of the things that earth affords.
To a life of love in action
help us rise and pledge our word.

and the 3rd stanza, my most favorite

“All that kills abundant living
let it from the earth be banned,
pride of status, race or schooling,
dogmas that obscure your plan.
In our common quest for justice
may we hollow life’s brief span”
