Protection from Enemies

"O Lord, my God, in you I take refuge " -Psalm 7:1
| Reading: Psalms 5-7
Reading a passage like: “All my enemies shall be ashamed and struck with terror; they shall turn back, and in a moment be put to shame” (Psalm 6:10) raises 3 ideas for me.
1. The writer is deeply afraid of enemies that are threatening his/her life. It’s hard for us to undersand sometimes the depth of fear that powerlessness and oppression can raise.
2. The Psalmist has found a God who will protect him/her in this perilous situation.
3. This passage helps me appreciate the radical challenge Jesus brings to the tradition of his people when he calls his followers to: “Love your enemies.”
